Description
The Tissot Couturier Chronograph Automatic is a stainless steel watch with an automatic ETA C01.211 chronograph movement. Its stainless steel case measures 43 mm across. The dial features stick markers and sharp, dauphine-style, hands. Its design is said to be inspired by 'great fashion designers'.
The present version uses the ETA C01.211 ; an automatic chronograph with caliber 7750 also exists. The latter features both a day and date display. At 14.19 mm, it is also slightly thicker than the present version. The version pictured here has a porthole style see-through caseback; the 7750 has a full window.
Movement
Automatic chronograph movement with date window. Introduced in 2008-2009 as the result Tissot asking ETA to develop a Swiss made chronograph movement suitable for large-scale production at low cost, though collectors soon recognized the famed Lemania 5100 in the lay-out. The latter was mostly seen in military- and tool-watches and discontinued in the early 2000's. The new C01.211 is mostly (or only?) found in the lower segment brands of the Swatch Group.
